Week 11 Activities

Week 11 March 19-23.

Wednesday, March 21 . Active shooter assembly by Upland Police Dept. P3. Note no P4 Class, and P5 class was only 30 min. RAIN! Classes indoors. Today OA student to justify their grade & use day to make up any missed work.

Tuesday, March 20  It appears the storm scheduled for tomorrow will come after 5 PM so I am hoping we can be outside one more day. Activities of the day.
1. Cont. digging footings for posts. (2)
2. Carry posts to the garden area.
3. Cut 6"x6"x25' post into two 10'sections
4. Set post. Level
5. Pour concrete footings of the posts.
6. Cut remainder of 6 x 6 into two 24" pieces to hold salad bar top.


Monday, March 19:  Cont. on Decade music blog and add a photo of oneself to blog (top right corner)

To add photo: Go to Design/layout/add a gadget (right sidebar), select Image gadget. When configuring image select "shrink to fit".

For those of you whose image is extremely large currently - follow the above steps but instead of adding a gadget, simply edit the image gadget you currently have. Then select shrink to fit.

Outside Activities: If sunny
1. collect carbon/nitrogen for the composter. IE Paper, leaves, grass, sticks, old pumpkin plants
2.  Hang fencing to cross beam
3. Cut the vertical garden rod
4  Hang vertical garden PVC 4 total
5. plant beans
6  plant cucumbers
7 plant sweet peas,  plant sunflowers
8 plant strawberries
9 repair PVC pipe at the valve
10 Dig holes for a second round of posts
11 transplant plants left in flat into cups

LA County Fair Farm Field Trip

On Friday, March 16 HHS took 43 students to the Farm at the LA County Fair Grounds.

Week 10 Activities

Friday 3-16-18  LA County Fair Farm.  Today 47 students will be touring the LA Farm. They will be exploring the garden area, fruit tree area, hydroponic area, & chicken coop as well as creating and eating a pizza with food made from the LA Fair  Garden.

Thursday 3-15  iMovie cont.  Select a decade, something of your parents time or older. Find three youtube videos of that era and download. Edit each video down to 10 seconds. Provide a beginning title introducing the decade  and the artist/groups and titles introducing each song.

Start by selecting a decade. Listen to some of the music from that decade. Select some songs that you like and download. (PLEASE USE HEADPHONES)



Wednesday 3-14 Blog post. Today at HHS many students participated in a 17-minute walk out in honor of the fallen victims from the Florida shooting. Today I would like students to make a post in response to the walkout.

Tuesday 3-13  Hmmm. Outside or Inside, this is the question.   Would love to see some compost bins made, need some corn plants planted as well as cucumbers, and need to hook up the vertical garden. So maybe it is outside. We will check in a period by period.

Monday 3-12  Inside......Intro to iMovie. Collect 10 images from the Internet, add a title at the beginning and end of the video, add transitions in between each photo, add music, render the video as an SD to iTunes and post to your blogger.

W9 Activities

Week 9 - March 5-9, 2018


Friday 3-9:  Inside - Orange Julius Day and plant a vegetable seed day!

Thursday 3-8: Outside - Install beam for the vertical garden!

Wednesday: 3-7  We again will be indoors. Today the student has two tasks.

1.  I would like for students to place a photo of themselves on their blogger. Placing the image in the right-hand margin near the top.
This can be accomplished by going to Design/Layout/Add a Gadget/Image - take a photo of yourself and place it in the image gadget.

2. Staying with pallet compost bin construction find a video and place it on your page.
This can be accomplished by finding a video on Youtube. Copy the URL of the video.
On your blogger page/new post/select add video icon/copy the URL from the YOUTUBE video and select. The video will show on your page.

Tuesday: 3-6 We will be indoors writing a blog post (10pts) Topic: 2 questions.
1.  Is the garden we have been working with beneficial to u?. Describe the work that you have participated in over the past 7 weeks.
2. Next step in the garden is to create a pallet compost bin. Research pallet compost bins include a photo and a link to the site you found.

Monday: 3-5 
The classes will be outside placing two posts for the vertical gardens. Pouring concrete for the posts.
